The First Vision was Mariah's first home video, originally released on VHS in February 1991. “This project is a culmination of so much hard work, so many dreams, countless wishes and endless prayers,” Mariah explained. “I have never wanted anything but to sing and write songs, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to share my gift with others.”
Directed by Jeb Brien, The First Vision gives viewers an inside look at Mariah on the cusp of her meteoric rise to superstardom, containing early music videos, behind-the-scenes footage, an interview and songs from her very first live performance at New York's intimate Tatou Club. The First Vision was released on DVD in Japan on November 17, 2004, and became available digitally on December 7, 2021.
