“There's Got To Be A Way” was commercially released in Europe as the fourth single from Mariah's debut album, peaking at number fifty-four on United Kingdom's Official Singles Chart. “I did have a Gospel choir sing on ‘There's Got To Be A Way’ which I really loved because I love Gospel music and Gospel vocal arrangements,” Mariah said about the song. “It's really the spirituality and the incredible free singing and the realness of Gospel music that I love. There is just such a rawness there and a lot of the singers are just so incredible, I love it.” The proceeds from the single sales in Europe were donated to the World Vision charity.
Shep Pettibone, who had previously worked with Mariah on “Someday,” was in charge of the “There's Got To Be Away” remixes.

The music video for “There's Got To Be A Way” was directed by Larry Jordan and shows Mariah singing the song on an empty city street intertwining scenes of everyday life. The community gets together to sing the song with Mariah, including backup singers Trey Lorenz and Patrick McMillan, as well as a gospel choir.
The “There's Got To Be A Way” single, released in Europe on 3" CD, includes the album version and the 7" Remix of the song, remixed by Shep Pettibone. The Maxi Single was released on 5" CD including the 12" Remix and the Alt. Vocal Club Mix.
“There's Got To Be A Way” was also released as a double A-side with “I Don't Wanna Cry.” The Single, available on 7" Vinyl, includes both songs, while the CD Maxi Single also includes the 12" Remix of “There's Got To Be A Way.”
“There's Got To Be A Way” was released in the United Kingdom on May 20, 1991. CD 1 includes “There's Got To Be A Way” and two remixes; 12" Remix and Alt. Vocal Club Mix. CD2 was a limited edition picture disc including the Album Version and 7" Remix of “There's Got To Be A Way,” the 7" Jackswing Mix of “Someday” and “Vision Of Love.” The Single was issued on Cassette and 7" Vinyl including both the Album Version and the 7" Remix of “There's Got To Be A Way.” The song was also released on 12" Vinyl, including three remixes: 12" Remix, Alt. Vocal Dub Mix and 7" Remix.
