In the United States, the song was commercially released on January 25, 1994, and charted as a double-sided single with “Without You.” The single peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and spent thirteen weeks in the Top 10.
Jermaine Dupri, who would later become one of Mariah's closest collaborators, was in charge of the “Never Forget You” remix.

The European “Without You / Never Forget You” Single was issued on 7" Vinyl. The live version of “Dreamlover” from Mariah's concert at Proctor's Theatre was added as a third track on the Maxi Single, available on 12" Vinyl.
